SewIndie, LLC ("SewIndie," "we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how SewIndie collects, uses, stores, and protects information when you use the SewIndie website located at https://www.sewindie.com and the services provided through the website (collectively, the "Services").

By using the Services, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy.

1. Information We Collect

We collect only the information reasonably necessary to provide and operate the SewIndie Services.

1.1 Information You Provide to Us

When you create a SewIndie account, we collect:

• your name;
• email address;
• username; and
• password.

Passwords are securely hashed and are not stored by SewIndie in plain-text form.

You may also provide information when you submit a request for a sewing pattern or designer to be added to the SewIndie directory. Pattern-addition requests are submitted without identifying information and are not associated with your SewIndie account.

1.2 Information Associated With Your Account Activity

If you use applicable features of the Services, we may store information associated with your account, including:

• sewing patterns you have rated;
• your ratings of sewing patterns;
• sewing patterns you have saved as favorites; and
• information necessary to maintain your account and its settings.

Your account information is private and is not publicly displayed with your name, email address, or other identifying information.

1.3 Information Collected Through Cookies

SewIndie uses essential cookies or similar technologies necessary to authenticate users and maintain login sessions.

These cookies allow the Services to recognize your authenticated session and keep you signed in while you use features that require an account.

SewIndie does not currently use cookies for behavioral advertising or analytics.

If you configure your browser to block essential cookies, portions of the Services that require authentication may not function properly.

1.4 Information Collected Automatically

SewIndie does not intentionally collect analytics, advertising profiles, or other behavioral tracking information about users.

However, our hosting and infrastructure provider, Vercel, may process certain technical or service-generated information as part of providing, securing, and maintaining its infrastructure.

SewIndie does not use this information to create advertising profiles or track users across unrelated websites.

2. How We Use Personal Information

SewIndie uses personal information for purposes reasonably necessary to operate and provide the Services, including to:

1. create and maintain your SewIndie account;
2. authenticate your account and keep you signed in;
3. provide ratings and favorites functionality;
4. maintain your account preferences and information;
5. send essential account-related communications, such as account verification and password-reset emails;
6. respond to requests or communications you send to us;
7. maintain, secure, and protect the Services;
8. detect and prevent fraudulent, abusive, or unauthorized activity;
9. enforce our Terms of Use and other applicable policies;
10. comply with applicable laws and legal obligations; and
11. maintain and improve the Services.

We do not currently use your personal information for targeted advertising.

We do not sell your personal information.

3. Account Communications

If you create a SewIndie account, we may send you communications necessary to operate your account.

These may include:

• email verification messages;
• password-reset messages;
• account-security notifications; and
• other essential service-related communications.

Because these communications are necessary to provide and secure your account, you generally cannot opt out of them while maintaining an account.

SewIndie does not currently send marketing newsletters or promotional emails.

4. How We Disclose Personal Information

SewIndie does not rent or sell your personal information.

We do not share your personal information with third parties for their own advertising or marketing purposes.

We may disclose personal information when reasonably necessary to operate the Services or under the following circumstances.

4.1 Service Providers

We may provide personal information to service providers that process information on our behalf and are necessary to operate the Services.

Our current infrastructure provider is Vercel, which provides hosting and related infrastructure services.

Vercel may process information as necessary to provide those services to SewIndie.

4.2 Legal Requirements

We may disclose personal information if we have a good-faith belief that disclosure is reasonably necessary to:

• comply with applicable law, regulation, legal process, subpoena, or court order;
• respond to a lawful governmental request;
• enforce our Terms of Use or other agreements;
• establish, exercise, or defend legal rights or claims;
• detect, prevent, investigate, or address fraud or security issues; or
• protect the rights, property, or safety of SewIndie, our users, or others.

4.3 Business Transfers

If SewIndie is involved in a merger, acquisition, reorganization, financing, sale of assets, or similar business transaction, personal information may be transferred as part of that transaction.

If required by applicable law, we will provide notice regarding a material change in ownership or control of your personal information.

5. Information That Is Publicly Visible

Your SewIndie account information is private.

Your name, email address, username, password, ratings, and favorites are not publicly displayed as personal account information.

SewIndie may display aggregate or anonymized information about patterns, including average ratings, without identifying the individual users who submitted those ratings.

For example, a pattern may display an average rating such as 4.3 out of 5, but SewIndie does not publicly display the names, email addresses, or usernames of the individuals whose ratings contributed to that average.

6. Passwords and Account Security

SewIndie securely hashes account passwords rather than storing passwords in plain-text form.

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction.

However, no method of transmitting or storing information over the internet is completely secure. We cannot guarantee that your information will never be accessed, disclosed, altered, or destroyed as a result of a security incident or other event beyond our reasonable control.

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and should choose a strong, unique password for your SewIndie account.

7. Data Retention and Account Deletion

SewIndie follows a data-minimization approach and does not retain personal information longer than reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, except where a longer retention period is required or permitted by law.

If you delete your SewIndie account, we intend to delete or de-identify personal information associated with your account that we no longer have a legitimate reason to retain.

Information may be retained when reasonably necessary to:

• comply with legal obligations;
• resolve disputes;
• enforce our agreements;
• prevent fraud or abuse;
• maintain security;
• protect the rights or safety of SewIndie or others; or
• maintain necessary business records.

We may also retain information in backup systems for a limited period as those backups are replaced or deleted through our ordinary backup processes.

We may retain aggregated or de-identified information that can no longer reasonably be used to identify you.

We want you to have reasonable control over your personal information.

Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have rights concerning your personal information, including the right to:

• request access to personal information we maintain about you;

SewIndie does not sell personal information.

SewIndie does not currently use personal information for targeted advertising.

SewIndie does not currently operate an advertising program that allows advertisers to target users based on their personal information.

If our practices change in the future, we will update this Privacy Policy and provide any notices or choices required by applicable law.

10. Children's Privacy

SewIndie is a general-audience website and is not directed toward children under 13.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 in circumstances where applicable law requires parental consent.

If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 in circumstances where parental consent was required, we will take reasonable steps to delete the information.

SewIndie does not control how third parties collect, use, or disclose information.

We encourage you to review the privacy policy of any third-party website before providing personal information.

SewIndie is based in the United States, and information collected through the Services may be processed or stored in the United States or other locations where SewIndie or its service providers operate.

By using the Services, you understand that your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States and other jurisdictions.
